Devotion (noun)- Ardent, often selfless affection and dedication, as to a person or principle. See Synonyms at love.

On my sole trip to Tibet, I made a pilgrimage with three others to Mount Kailash in the northwestern reaches of the mountainous country. It took us four days to reach the mountain. Four days of jostling, jolting travel across a barren ethereal landscape, picking up dusty trails that passed as roads in our late-model Land Cruiser. Four days of high altitude travails; headaches, appetite loss, forgotten words, and sleepless nights. Four long tedious days and nights amidst stark, pristine beauty. Read more

Memories of Kailash

I’ve traveled to Tibet once in my life, and it is slowly fading from memory. I realize this now as I look back at notes from that ethereal trip. They read like a blend of fiction and non-fiction with the boundary shifting more and more to the former. The trip is surely fading, leaving me with just hints of impressions. Read more

Sonam and Shangri La, Part 2

McCleod Ganj is the most prominent of the Indian Tibetan settlements, which are spread from North to South. The settlements might easily be overlooked; just another town of concrete and congestion, cars and cows, were it not for the inevitable Tibetan prayer flags, layered like cobwebs across the towns highest points.
